With the Cairo conference
we approach the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq We are well aware of the importance of international protests against the war. For this reason, the convergence and coordination between the movements around the world are becoming increasingly necessary. Social Forums have provided a space where many activists, especially in the West and Latin America, have been reunited.
But there is another space, less known by activists of the English State created by their own movements in the Middle East: Cairo Conference. In late March, the Conference held in the heart of the most important city in the Arab world, the 6th edition. As in previous editions, will meet activists from across the region, since the resistance in Palestine and Lebanon, to union activists and student activists from Egypt-war movements around the world.
The Conference is organized by a broad coalition of parties and social movements in Egypt, the radical left, the Nasserists, the Muslim Brotherhood, civil rights groups, Kifaya, the campaign for democracy in Egypt ...
During the past year, El Cairo, and Egypt in general, have been the scene of protests very important, from a massive wave of struggles of workers and peasants, to mass demonstrations in solidarity with Gaza. Many of the protagonists of these protests will be attending the Conference.
As activists based in the English State, it seems important that the movement from here to participate in this meeting, and to disseminate their proposals. So we encourage individuals and entities to make the effort to participate in this conference. Signed
